finally updating. there's been a few topics that i've been wanting to discuss, but i just haven't been able to find energy to write.

first topic - Cal football. duh.
second topic - Michelle Wie.
third topic - prop 87.

hopefully i can get to all of them in the next few days.

so here we go: Cal football.

let's start with the game that i'm almost done erasing from my memory - tennessee. i'm starting to think that it was a fluke. well, sort of. for them. tennessee. while there is absolutely no excuse for not being prepared for the game in week 1 of the season in one of the most intimidating places to play an away game, i really honestly think that, if we play tennessee again, we can beat them. i mean, we got whupped badly in that first game. but since then, we've been on a crazy roll - finishing off our opponents in the first half in each game, including the ranked ASU. and the country knows - we're currently ranked only 3 behind them in harris poll. wait until we beat oregon, and i think we can outrank them soon.

i believe lee corso from espn picked CAL to win the championship this year saying that even if we lose the first game vs the vols, we can still do it. i'm starting to believe this guy. why?

reason one: nate longshore. this guy was really playing his first ever start of career vs tennessee in a ferocious stadium packed with 100,000+ tennessee fans. not the best place to gain confidence. since then, however, he has been on FIRE. he's been named PAC-10 Offensive Player of the Week TWICE already in 3 weeks, and USA Today named him the Player of the Week last week (vs. ASU) - we're talking about being the best player in the country for a week. He's also ranked 9th for QB rating in the country currently, and most importantly, he's only gonna get better. last year, we were one QB away from being a one-loss team. yes. he's that one QB we were missing last year.

reason two: marshawn lynch. i don really have to explain him too much, because he is unbelievably good. he's actually been pretty quiet so far in the season. but he's still averaging 100+ yards - 6th in the nation for yards per carry. and the thing is, he could've had about 150 more yards so far - in the game vs portland st, he played like ONE quarter and still had more than 100 yards. coach tedford decided to put in all the backup players rest of the game. classy of him, as always. the point is, his stats - while still very impressive - can be even better. and i think he will gain more attention as we play teams like oregon and usc. i'm sad cuz he'll probably go to NFL after this season.

reason three: desean jackson. ok, i'm no college football expert or anything, but this guy, i think, is the best receiver in college football. hands down the fastest wide receiver. currently, 10th in the nation for yds, and tied for first in TD receptions. he also does punt return - he just returned one for TD vs ASU last weekend. with longshore playing the way he's been playing and deliverying the ball to desean next year, DJ is the one of the candidates for heisman next year fo sho. mark my words people. DJ is the man.

if you are paying attention to what i said above, you'll realize that we actually have a trio of QB, RB, and WR - a good combination to be very dangerous. kinda like aaron rodgers + geoff macarthur + jj arrington back in '04 - which is when we should've been at the rose bowl!! i think we'll make up for that year.

anyways, watch out USC. this is the year your trojan condom breaks at the work of CAL Bears' claws.
